Baltimore’s Faces of Homelessness Speakers’ Bureau challenges the deeply entrenched indifference many community members feel towards homelessness and poverty by engaging them in dialogues led by the true experts, those who have experienced it firsthand.
On Thursday, August 2nd, the Baltimore Area Speakers' Bureau attended Baltimore City's first "Project Homeless Connect:" a massive day of outreach and services for people experiencing homelessness and at risk of becoming homeless. The event was hosted at M&T Bank Stadium and dozens of homeless service providers were present to offer help to the nearly 1,000 people who attended. Members of the Speakers' Bureau went to record interviews with some of the event's attendants in addition to trying to recruit new speakers. Here are the powerful stories of the people we met that day.
